GERMANICUS IVLIVS CAESAR was born to Nero Claudius Drusus and Antonia
on May 24, 15 BC. His father died in 9 BC, and Tiberius, Augustus' stepson,
was forced by Augustus to adopt him in 4 AD. He began a military career
in Pannonia in 7 AD, and by 11 AD was in Germany where he stayed until
17 AD (except for a consulship in 12 AD), when he was sent to the east.
He died mysteriously near Antioch on October 10, 19 AD, suspecting that
he had been poisoned by Piso, the Syrian Governor, on order of Tiberius,
who was jealous of him. He left his wife Agrippina Sr. and six children,
among them Caligula. (From MONETA, from www.numus.com)
