V_nickel_1898.jpg149 viewsDaniel Freeman - FREE, FREE! This old US nickel is Free when anyone purchases 3 of my items at the next auction date. I can't tell you much because I don't know much about modern coins. I did notice above one side of the V on the reverse a unusual thing. If it was an ancient I would say it's a counter mark but I don't know. Good fortune at the next auction!Danfree

Unakite is an altered granite composed of pink orthoclase feldspar, green epidote, and generally colorless quartz. The dark wood looks like African Teakwood, but not sure. These two tiny pachyderms didn't start out together, but when placed side by side make a very distinctive pair. Moe

04-Notgeld_Coins.jpgLot # 4109 viewsMoe & Holly 4, TWO (2) GERMAN MUNICIPAL ZINC EMERGENCY MONEY- 1917 DEGGENDORF KRIEGSGELD & 1920 MÜNCHBERG NOTGELD, The Munchberg notgeld is in average circulated condition with a slightly rough texture. The Deggendorf kreigsgeld is in better condition overall but shows some damage from an aborted attempt to put a hole through it. Start $6, shipping US- $4 padded envelope and tracking/International- To be Calculated.
Unlike much of the more familiar and more common paper notgeld that was mainly issued in the mid 1920's to be sold in the American and British collector's markets, these small zinc coins were actually issued to serve as emergency money by German municipalities during and immediately following WWI.Moe

13-Rajas_of_Kangra.jpgLot # 13108 viewsMoe & Holly 5, KATOCH RAJAS OF KANGRA, Bull/Horseman Jital, Hari Chandra Deva, 1405-1420 AD, Tye #71 or AKJ #378. The Rajas of Kangra ruled a mysterious mountain region in Northern India and not much is known of them. Their coins are scarce in general and Hari Chandra Deva is an especially scarce ruler. Start at $20. Shipping US- $4 padded envelope and tracking/International- To be Calculated.
When purchased, this coin was in a generic plastic slab with the following description: "Sons Of Ghengis Khan 1276 AD, Bronze Nummis PGS Certified Full Strike Mongol". ROFL! The only true part of that statement is that the coin is made of bronze! After a 3 day search of internet resources, it's true identity was revealed. Moe

17-GT.jpgLot # 17106 viewsMoe & Holly 3, AUSTRIAN COIN (KM #2111, 1800a, 1 KRUEZER) WITH "GT" COUNTERMARK. FRENCH COLONY OF GRANDE TERRE ON GUADELOUPE ISLAND, Krause Standard Catalog of Unusual World Coins, Guadeloupe/Grande Terre X #11, formerly Craig #43. Start at $12.00. Shipping US- $4 padded envelope and tracking/International- To be Calculated.
I had only heard rumors of these countermarked issues and had never seen one before. The countermark is so subtle that I almost missed it. I could find exactly zero information and zero images online. History of the Island: Guadeloupe was discovered by Columbus for Spain in 1493 but claimed by the French Company of the Islands of America in 1635. Grande Terre is the name of the eastern half of the island. Efforts to colonize the island failed, so it was given to the French crown in 1674. The British occupied the island twice, 1759-63 and 1810-16. It was around the time of the second British occupation that the island experienced the severe coin shortage resulting in this countermarked series. The colony received official coinage in 1827.Moe
