29.08.16.09_M1.jpgLot # 2980 viewsMark - The final Crown-sized (38mm) US Dollars. Both designs of Eisenhower CuNi clad "sandwich" Dollars. 1972-D and 1976-D Bicentennial. Both reverses honor the Apollo Project and the Moon Landings. $2 Start, S&H $2.50 US, $5 OS - lehmansterms@comcast.net
This traditional size of dollar coin in CuNi, which really never circulated, was created primarily at the request of the gaming industry whose old stand-by circulated AR Morgans were no longer available for use in the Dollar Slots. Eventually, casinos realized they could strike their own dollar-sized slot-machine tokens with the additional benefit of advertising value. The Eisenhower was struck only from 1971 through 1978 - then replaced by the very unpopular Susan B. Anthony Dollar.lehmansterms
