The obverse shows the king's monogram and the reverse an ornamental shield surrounded by the Latin legend which translates as "Shilling of the City of Riga". These coins were struck for use in the city of Riga, Latvia, which was controlled by Sweden at the time. The date is the numerals "57" on the reverse. The 1657 is listed as KM 50 in SCWC (1601-1700).
