Marcus_Aurelius_Denarius_AP_Auction.jpgMarcus Aurelius Concordia Denarius146 viewsPaul - Silver Denarius of Marcus Aurelius (161-180 AD)- Decent details, nicely centered with full legends on both sides. An interesting reverse design depicting Concordia seated left, holding a patera, her left arm resting on a statue of the goddess Spes which is set on a cornucopiae. This coin was struck between December 163 - December 164 AD (19 mm. & 3.13 grams, RIC, III, 87). I will start this coin at $1.00. (I paid a LOT more for it than that.) Still in its original packaging including the blue envelope, I was fifteen years old at the time. We paid $3.00 for it in 1971. I will start out the bidding at $1.00 a half century later. 15-Quintillus_AP_Auction.jpgLot # 15223 viewsPaul 4 - Quintillus (270 AD) BI antoninianus, 21 mm, 2.80 g. Reverse, CONCORD EXER, has Concordia standing and holding two ensigns. This is a superior example with strong details and nice deep green patina. It comes fully attributed as RIC, V, 1, 10 from the Rome mint in a 2x2 flip. I had this one up for the last auction but it didn't sell. I've relisted it and dropped the opening bid down to $30.00. Payment is by PayPal, cash or personal check. My PayPal address is: bulgerin@sbcglobal.net (please try and use "Friends and Family). Shipping is $1.00 in the U.S. and $2.00 elsewhere.
Quintillus was the brother of Claudius II Gothicus (268-270 AD). He ruled for only three months after Claudius died of the plague. He committed suicide when Aurelian arose against him - His bust is very similar to his brother's, although he usually has tight circular curls in his hair.

01-Constantius_II_FTR_AE-3_Antioch_AP.jpgLot # 1186 viewsPaul 6 - Opening bid, $15.00. Lovely, Sharp Constantius II FEL TEMP REPARATIO AE-3 majorina from Antioch - This is a very nice Fourth Century Roman billon coin. A half-majorina or perhaps a reduced full majorina on a slightly under-sized flan - 19 mm, 4.27 g, RIC, VIII, 190. It has an attractive black patina with light sand highlights. Payment is by PayPal, cash or personal check. My PayPal address is: bulgerin@sbcglobal.net (please try and use "Friends and Family). Shipping is $1.00 in the U.S. and $2.00 elsewhere.
Exceptionally well-struck on both sides with a detailed bust of the emperor. Just check out his hair and the ornaments on his drapery and armor. On the reverse, you can make out the details of the beard on the fallen Persian horseman, reaching back, trying to save himself from the Roman soldier about to run him through.
